First time in India, Tata teases CNG Automatic!

 Tata teases something new on the Tiago and Tigor CNG 

It seems like Tata is going to offer an AMT option on these two CNG cars and become the first manufacturer to offer a CNG automatic option.

The teaser provides a clear indication of the forthcoming integration of the AMT gearbox with CNG cars. Specifically, the Tiago and Tigor CNG models are set to receive the automatic gearbox, likely adopting the existing 5-speed AMT unit utilized in the standard Tiago and Tigor petrol variants. The question arises whether the Altroz and Punch CNG will also offer an AMT option, prompting anticipation and a need for further observation.

This introduction of AMT with CNG represents a groundbreaking shift, marking the first occurrence of CNG automatic cars. The positioning of the Tiago and Tigor CNG automatics in terms of pricing by Tata Motors becomes an intriguing aspect to watch.

Notably, Tata has a history of pioneering changes in the CNG segment, having previously introduced twin-cylinder technology to address the significant concern of reduced boot space for CNG owners. With the impending launch of CNG automatics, Tata Motors is poised to make a substantial advancement in the CNG segment.

Apart from the introduction of CNG automatics, the Tiago and Tigor are expected to maintain their current specifications. Consistency in features, exterior and interior design, and the potential addition of an AMT badge on the body are anticipated. Engine specifications remain unchanged, with both cars continuing to feature the 1.2-litre iCNG petrol engines generating 72bhp and 95Nm of peak torque.

Official bookings for the Tata Tiago and Tata Tigor iCNG AMT have commenced. Regarding pricing, the Tiago CNG falls in the range of Rs 7.47 to Rs 9.33 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), while the Tigor CNG is priced between Rs 8.85 to Rs 10.65 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). The automatic option is expected to incur a premium of Rs 75,000 to Rs 80,000. Prospective buyers may face a waiting period of approximately a month since the teaser release today.
