BLDC ceiling fan is one type of ceiling fan which consumes lower electricity compare to normal induction fan. It's also called energy saving fan or brushless DC fan. The full form of BLDC is Brushless Direct Current.

A BLDC fan takes in AC voltage and internally converts it into DC using SMPS. The main difference between BLDC and ordinary DC fans is the commutation method. A commutation is basically the technique of changing the direction of current in the motor for the rotational movement.
The advantages of a brushless motor over brushed motors are high power-to-weight ratio, high speed, electronic control, and low maintenance. Brushless motors find applications in such places as computer peripherals (disk drives, printers), hand-held power tools, and vehicles ranging from model aircraft to automobiles.
