Samsung, BigFlix launch video app

Country's second largest mobile handset manufacturer Samsung and movie renting firm BigFlix today launched a video-on-demand application, My Movies, offering free video content for the first 2,000 hours.

"By providing consumers with India-relevant applications and rich content on our smart
mobile devices like tablets and smartphones, we are seeking to make their experience with our devices more engaging and immersive," Ranjit Yadav, Country Head, Samsung Mobile and IT, said in a statement.

My Movies will be available for users of Samsung Galaxy S, SII and Galaxy Tab 750 offering consumers full length feature films, trailers, TV shows and music videos up to first 2000 hours during first phase of its launch from BigFlix, the statement said.

Users of these three Samsung devices can download it for free. In the second phase, My Movies application shall offer premium content to the users on subscription as well.

"The subscription service will allow the user to watch full-length feature films and over 1,000 movies with no interruption from advertisement," it said.

The company, however, did not disclose when will it start the second phase.
