On Thursday Freecharge launched the UPI payments platform on FreeCharge.
You can avail UPI on your FreeCharge account by verifying and linking your mobile number to the bank account of your choice and then setting a UPI PIN for transactions. The process is notably similar to what Paytm offers on its Android and iOS apps. Right now, the UPI support is limited only to Android users, but will be released for iOS users in a couple of weeks.
UPI is a 24×7 instant payment method which allows instant, secure and convenient payment between bank accounts. FreeCharge android app users will now be able to use all UPI payment services via their ‘@freecharge’ UPI ID. You can now –
- Send money by entering recipient’s UPI ID or bank account + IFSC
- Request money
- Pay to all online and offline merchants
- Scan & Pay or request money through UPI enabled QR code
