Do you like big screens? Show much love for your Samsung Galaxy Note II? Well, here’s something to make you a little jealous. Huawei has shown off its new 6.1-inch full HD phablet, the Huawei Ascend Mate, ahead of CES 2013. The unveiling was done by none other than the company’s very own Richar Yu Huawei, the company’s CEO, at a Huawei store in China.
The Huawei Ascend Mate features a 6.1-inch full HD display made of low-temperature polysilicon which will allow it to achieve a pixel density of 361ppi. There is also a 1.8 GHz quad-core processor and a 4000mAh battery all neatly packed into a 9.6mm thick body.
According to a Chinese website, the phone could debut at a price of roughly $480, but those details are yet to be confirmed. The word on more specifications like RAM, camera pixel count etc are scarce, but we’d expect to see those specs very soon as the phone is scheduled for a CES debut.
In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Note II is a 5.5 inch phone with a Super AMOLED HD display and a 1.6 GHz quad-core processor along with 2GB of RAM. There’s also 64GB of on board storage for those who love to store a part of their digital lives on their phones.
Will the Huawei Ascend Mate be able to match the Note II, or eat into its market share, is something we’ll have to see as and when the phone is launched.
