Facebook has finally launched its new App Center, which is currently home to over 600 apps. The social media giant announced the introduction of the project a few weeks ago. The mobile version of this new app hub has been launched in the US, and will be available globally in the coming weeks. Desktop users, however, can access the application store's website regardless of their location.
The App Center also houses a bundle of mobile apps for iOS and Android that feature FB integration. Using the Send To Mobile feature, users can send mobile apps to their devices. They will then be taken to Google Play or the iTunes App Store to download the app. The Send To Mobile feature is possible with iOS devices, but doesn't quite work yet with Android. Maybe the feature is limited to the US for now.
The store hosts all the popular mobile apps, including a few titles from Glu Mobile and Zynga. There is a decent set of web apps too, and not just limited to games, making for a good start. It remains to be seen how Facebook's offering will hold up against its formidable rivals.
