In what comes across as a major relief to scores of those who rely heavily on bulk SMSing, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has decided to lift the maximum SMS bar from the earlier 100 to 200, beginning from today. According to a Telecom Talk report, TRAI announced its decision after reviewing several comments it received post its decision of limiting messaging to a 100 SMS per day, per SIM.
It hasn't been that long, since TRAI broke the news of having placed a bar of 100 SMSes on the number of SMS one could potentially send in a day, using one SIM. Sure enough, the move met with a lot of criticism from the masses, many of whom send more than 100 SMS per day, instead of actually making calls. It also exposed a flaw in the setup, which stated that a person with multiple SIM cards wouldn't feel the pinch, really. While the new decision still puts a limit to the maximum number of SMS one could send in a day, it's by all means a welcoming sight.
