Apple partners BSNL to bring iPad to India

Apple is finally launching its much-awaited tablet iPad in India. The company has tied up with government-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited to launch the tablet in the country.

Apple iPad is reportedly set to hit retail stores across the country on January 28. The tablet will be available in Wi-Fi or 3G+Wi-Fi versions. The tablet will be available in India through Apple's premium retailers.

According to a report in The Telegraph, the Wi-Fi version of iPad will be priced between Rs 26,000 to Rs 33,000. While the 3G+Wi-Fi version will be priced between Rs 33,000 to Rs 44,000. Both versions will come in three capacities, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.

BSNL will initially offer 3G data plans for the tablet in Maharahstra, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, UP (East), UP (West), Chennai and Kolkata telecom circles, according to a Web report.

All data plans will be available without a contract, providing the freedom to activate or cancel a plan at any time.

Apple iPad comes to India nine months after its US launch and days away from the speculated launch of its next-generation model.
