Adding some light to the buzz about MeeGo and Symbian 3, Nokia finally announced its latest smartphone in India Nokia N8 on Symbian 3 and announced the expected launch of devices on MeeGo by next year.
Speaking at the launch of new smartphone Nokia N8, D.Shivakumar, vice president and managing director, Nokia India said, “Nokia works with three platforms namely MeeGo, Symbian and Series 40. MeeGo is built in collaboration with Intel for computing devices and we would see the first results in early quarter of 2011.”
Adding to it, V Ramnath, director- OperatorChannel-India SUM Sales, said, “The launch of N8 would be followed by other products on Symbian 3 such as Nokia C7, E7 and C6-01.
Loaded with 12MP camera, USB-on-the-Go, 720p HD video output and many more, the products will hit the stores starting October 13, 2010 at a price point of Rs 26,259. It is also available at three EMIs at zero per cent interest.
Shivakumar added, “Globally there are around 300 million units of smartphones, and in which, Nokia enjoys a leadership position with around 41 per cent of the market share.”
With N8, Nokia is delivering around 250 new experiences and features from a faster UI to visual multi-tasking. On the other hand, developers can easily create custom applications on Symbian 3 using the Qt framework.
